Media

We actively get the media involved in our Kiwanis work to display to the world the beauty and benefits of volunteering, working with children, those in need and contributing positively to development. The following are newspaper submissions from our club which were published in a main stream newspaper, The Jamaica Observer.

This meeting was our K-Family evening and it was co-chaired between Distinguished President Velmore & DP Ryan of Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI). It was a buzzing Family Night Meeting on Tuesday 23 November, 2011. The Family night saw the young people in the Kiwanis Club of eastern St. Andrew (KCESA) Sponsored Leadership Programme (SLP) displaying their talents at their meeting. The SLPs include the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) Circle K, Holy Trinity Key Club, Mona Prep Builders Club, Wolmers Prep Builders Club, Our Lady of the Angels Prep Builders Club, St. Martin de Porres Prep Builders Club, St. Hughs Prep K-Kids, St. Martin de Porres Basic K-Kid and Grove Primary K-Kids. There were more than 150 SLPs in attendance. They were not daunted when their leadership skills were put to the test. The Faculty Advisors, Parents and friends came out to support their SLPs and were entertained at the meeting in the true essence of Christmas which filled the air.

On Monday March 28, 2011 we were featured in the Positive Parenting article in Flair magazine for the Gleaner. The article was titled: Ja Kiwanis Kids join Int'l immunization drive. It described the effort of our SLPs to participate in the Kiwanis global Eliminate project in a bid to play their part in raising $US110 million for mothers in forty countries affected by maternal neonatal tetanus (MNT). The Eliminate Project is growing like wildfire as other Kiwanis clubs have joined the wave in this fundraiser by leaving Eliminate bottles in business places to raise funds for this worthy project. Compliments to Dir. Mary of the SLP committee and our SLPs for their work..
